Local Information A coastal city in southern Orange County, California, Newport Beach is known mainly for its sandy beaches. Supporting a multitude of differing eateries and shopping locales, Newport Beach is a wonderful place for relaxation. Dining For food, the hotel has an excellent in-house restaurant and is easily accessible to attendees of the conference. Right across the street of the hotel, there is a small shopping plaza with a couple of fast-food bites (Jimmy Johns, Pita Pita, Jamba Juice), and there are some other fast-food locations in walking distance. A bit further out, in driving distance, there are a multitude of higher end restaurants, such as Sol (a Mexican sit-down restaurant), a Benihana. In addition, only approximately a 10-minute drive away, there is Fashion Island, which has even more restaurants to pick from. Local Attractions/Shopping In terms of local attractions, just a 15-minute drive away from the conference venue is the beach Newport Beach is known for, where one can walk the beachside*. In addition, close to the beachside is Fashion Island, a small shopping plaza which holds a multitude of different restaurants and mom-and-pop shops.
